How it Works

Free Trial
bow_collar_transparent.png

If your dog hasn’t boarded with us before, you’ll need to book a free trial first.

• It’s a relaxed chance for us to meet you and your dog.

• Free trials last up to 3 hours and help us make sure your dog is happy in a kennel environment, can be walked safely on lead, and is comfortable for our team to work with.

• The free trial can be booked by contacting us, or if you book a stay on our website, we will be in touch to book this in for you. When you book in for your stay- if your dog is not suitable for our kennels- a full refund will then be given- we recommend booking this trial at least 6-8 weeks prior to your stay.

Veterinary Care
  • Pre-existing health issues must be declared.

  • We reserve the right to refuse dogs that are not fit for boarding.

  • In case of illness or emergency: we will attempt to use your vet (if local). Otherwise, we use Glenthornes Veterinary Practice in Uttoxeter.

  • The owner must cover all vet costs and related travel expenses.

Below you’ll find everything you need to know about how Overnight Boarding works at The Cottage Kennels – from check-in and check-out times to food, health, payments and security.

Breakfast is Served

After each guest has had their individual walk, its back to their suites where breakfast will be served in enrichment feeders to keep them occupied and release that dopamine.

Lunch time  – Enrichment Time

For any guests who require lunch, kongs or other enrichment are filled and enjoyed (where appropriate) in each dog’s kennel, with the freedom to move between their indoor bed and outdoor run. All guests have the opportunity for some time out of their kennel for the toilet.

Late Afternoon –
Walkies

Each guest then has their second walk of the day, having a private country walk.  Plenty of time for exploring, sniffing, and burning off some energy. Then time to settle for the evening.
